Valiant Roamer-Too

Many teachers will remember the old Valiant Roamer but may not have seen the much smaller, more manageable Valiant Roamer-Too.

Kate Hudson of Valiant Technology explains:

“Following the recent announcement to the changes to the ICT/Computing Curriculum, I am delighted to be able to tell you that the new Roamer, with its scaffolded approach to programming can help you meet over half the new requirements:

 Key Stage 1

Pupils should be taught to:

*understand what algorithms are, how they are implemented as programs on digital devices, and that programs execute by following a sequence of instructions

* write and test simple programs

* use logical reasoning to predict the behaviour of simple programs

Pupils should be taught to:

* design and write programs that accomplish specific goals, including controlling or simulating physical systems; solve problems by decomposing them into smaller parts

* use sequence, selection, and repetition in programs; work with variables and various forms of input and output; generate appropriate inputs and predicted outputs to test programs

* use logical reasoning to explain how a simple algorithm works and to detect and correct errors in algorithms and programs

What’s more, with Roamer it is easy to integrate the programming into other curriculum areas bringing a depth and ease of understanding. Quite genuinely Roamer reaches parts of the curriculum that other products can’t!
