Countdown Timers

Posted by:

clockCountdown Timers can be used in many ways: clearing up ready for playtime, finishing off work, spelling or tables tests and more.

There are a range of free timers which can be projected on to a whiteboard, which may add a little interest and excitement to various projects. When using a big timer to count down for: timed writing, timed research, timed problem solving etc,  there will be no doubt about how much time students still have left for their task.

The ClassTools Timer – A great and very easy to use timer, just type your time straight into the counter, the background changes colour from green, through amber to red as it counts.

Online Stopwatch – There is  a great set of fun countdown timers at this site. I quite like this bomb one but can imagine children getting excited by it as it explodes with a loud boom at the end. NB: if you do not clear it, it keeps exploding! It has a digital clock format for setting the timer, when you starts it shows the bomb image.

Online Egg Timer – There is also an online egg timer, with three separate countdown timers on offer –  this one would be great if you had groups needing different amounts of time for various tasks. Set the countdown timer using the up and down arrows, then click Start Timers.
