Posted by:

1-Curriculum Tng123ICT will be offering two new computing curriculum courses during Autumn 2015. Please see below for further information about each course. Courses will be held at our training suite at the Witney Business and Innovation Centre.

Tuesday October 20th – Teaching Scratch Beyond the Basics 1.00 – 4.30pm

This course will be hands-on with Scratch 2.0. (as used in the Rising Stars Switched on Computing scheme). The focus is to take Scratch programming beyond the basics to introduce areas of the KS2 Computing Curriculum such as variables and selection into Scratch programming via quizzes and games. We will include a variety of inputs and outputs and consider ways of extending Scratch even further. It is a course intended for those with existing basic Scratch knowledge. Attendees will create their own example quizzes and basic games. We will learn to introduce the game design process to pupils, and consider extension opportunities to stretch the more-able students further.
Attendees will leave the course with a bank of example programs and support materials for on-going assistance.
Attendees will need to bring their own laptop, and if possible install Scratch 2 offline editor from https://scratch.mit.edu/scratch2download/ prior to the course.

Tuesday November 10th – Progression and Assessment of KS1 Computing 1.00 – 4.30pm

Attendees of this course will have the opportunity to consider teaching progression and assessment for KS1 Computing. We will look at record keeping post Levels. Are you working towards, achieving or exceeding? Attendees will get the chance to evaluate several different approaches to progression and assessment and work during the afternoon to pull together their own system to use in their school.
Attendees must bring their own laptop. If schools have already adopted a scheme please bring this with you so we can see how it would dovetail with these approaches.
Please note that places are limited. We can therefore initially only offer one place per school, with a waiting list for second places.
